Crunchy Fried Plantain

Dosa batter is such an awesome thing, isn't it? You can make so many types of dosas (obviously!) and uttapams and then some more dosas and uttapams.
But then this batter can be used in so many more ways.

Today let's prepare a crunchy snack that's just so easy to prepare and the scope for customization is limited only by your imagination.

  • Take a raw banana. Boil it so that it is soft but not gooey. If you stick a knife into it, the knife should pierce easily but come out without any residue. If you don't have banana, you can do it with potatoes as well.

  • Peel and slice the banana. Just thick enough that it doesn't break if you hold it for biting.

  • Add some salt and pepper to the batter. You can add finely chopped onions, coriander leaves and green chilies. You can season it using herbs or seasonings. Totally upto you, what kind of taste you want.

  • Now just dip the banana slices in this batter and shallow fry on a gradle. Use sufficient amount of oil so that batter gets crunchy. Fry till the slices are golden brown.

Serve hot with your favorite sauce or chutney!

Bask in the adulation.
